Where are KL’s pickleball courts? Almost half sit within 10 km of Bangsar. I asked AI to read the Google reviews of 277 pickleball courts around KL, and the reviews say a lot about what a court costs, who plays and what to check before you book.
What I found.
Twelve things the reviews and Google searches showed, each with its chart. The charts are free to use with a link to this page.
1. Almost half of KL’s courts are within 10 km of Bangsar.
134 of the 277 courts sit within 10 km of the middle of Bangsar. TTDI (124) and Mont Kiara (120) come next.

2. A court costs most in PJ. Subang Jaya is the best deal.
The middle price reviewers wrote for an hour of court time: RM56.50 in PJ, RM50 in KL city and RM34.50 in Subang Jaya.

3. Pickleball out-searched badminton, for a while.
In August 2025, Malaysians searched “pickleball court” 40,500 times and “badminton court” 33,100 times. Pickleball also led in March and April 2025. Both have cooled since: 14,800 and 27,100 in August 2026.

4. Indoors isn’t always cool.
95 of 133 indoor courts have reviews saying it gets hot. Across all courts, heat is the top complaint: 170 of 277.

5. The boom came in 2025.
142 of today’s 277 courts got their first Google review in 2025, and 235 since January 2024. A first review is not an opening date, and closed places drop off Google.

6. Families play here too.
Reviews at 119 of 276 courts say families or kids play there. Groups of friends top the list (202), then beginners (148) and regulars (147).

7. The newest courts are in KL city.
67 of KL city’s 73 courts got their first Google review in 2024 or later. Klang and Puchong are next, at 12 of 14 each.

8. More than half the courts get “too close” reviews.
149 of 277 courts have reviews saying the courts are too close together, too tight at the sides, or have no netting, so balls roll into the next game.

9. The courts are busiest at 9 PM.
Google’s usual busy hours, averaged over 102 courts, peak at 9 PM on weekdays and weekends. Mornings are quietest: at 8 AM on weekdays, courts are about a third as busy as at 9 PM.

10. If I were opening one, I’d open it in Port Klang.
About 193,000 people live in Port Klang, and Google shows one pickleball court. PJ has one for every 10,600 people.

11. What players wish courts fixed.
Heat (61% of courts), courts too close (53%), bad bounce (38%), glare (29%), dim lights (27%) and rain or wind (26%).

How I did it.
I searched Google Maps around the Klang Valley in October 2026 for pickleball and pickleball court, in 4 km squares.
- 507 places came up.
- AI took out shops, cafés and other businesses by name, and read the 20 most relevant reviews of the 402 that were left: 6,064 reviews.
- It kept the places where the public can play, with a quote for each answer: 277 courts, after taking out closed places and listings that were the same business twice.
- For the first-review dates I pulled every review of each court. For who plays and what goes wrong, AI read up to 60 recent reviews a court.
- People per town come from WorldPop 2020. Searches are Google’s monthly estimates for all of Malaysia.

What it can’t tell you.
The numbers show patterns, not the truth about any one court.
- A first review is not an opening date, and closed courts drop off Google, so the boom counts today’s courts only.
- Prices are what reviewers wrote, peak and promo mixed: 10 to 21 prices a town.
- “Within 10 km” is a straight line from the middle of Bangsar’s cafés, not a drive.
- Complaints and who plays come from up to 60 recent reviews a court; no court is named.
- Google’s listed places change; a few may have closed.

What I do with it.
Reading what people already say is one way I find what to build, and where.
