How do you get more email sign-ups? Offer a free gift people want, and make sure they see it. On websites my AI built, 2,458 strangers gave me their email, and 1 in 6 people who saw a gift signed up.
The path.
Season 1 of my studio follows one stranger from a Google search to a sale (the last step has its own guide, how to sell digital products). Episode 2 got them to my sites: 95,941 visits so far.
But visitors leave. An email stays. So this step is about the free gift people trade their email for, which marketers call a lead magnet.
My AI tested one free gift against another and kept the winner. Three rules came out of those tests, each with a clear winner. (One gift, a quiz, did so well it got its own episode and a guide: a quiz funnel that gets the email.)
Lesson 1. Count what’s inside.
On one of my sites, a list of 75 niches got about 11 sign-ups for every 100 visitors. A list of the 10 highest-paying niches got about 2.
Same site, same topic. The 75 got about 6 times the sign-ups.
A big, countable list feels worth an email before anyone opens it. Ten tips feels like a blog post.
The number in the title sells the gift.
Try this, if it fits. How many options are in your best list? That number could lead the title: 75 niches, 50 setups, 100 ideas.
Lesson 2. Give a sheet, not a chart.
Next, my AI put two gifts on pages with almost the same traffic. A spreadsheet got 22 sign-ups from 236 visits. A comparison chart got 1 from 222.
That’s about 20 times the sign-ups, at the same traffic.
People want a file they can use today. They can sort a spreadsheet, filter it and pick from it. A chart only gets looked at.
Try this, if it fits. Could your list be a spreadsheet? One row per option, with the columns your buyers would sort by, like price, effort or time.
Lesson 3. Let them pick where they’re stuck.
Then my AI changed the homepage. Instead of one gift for everyone, it asked visitors where they were stuck, with 5 choices. Each choice led to its own gift.
Sign-ups went from about 7 to 11 in every 100 visitors to about 17 to 24. It was a small test, 190 visits, but sign-ups about doubled.
People sign up for an answer to their own problem, not for your newsletter.
Try this, if it fits. Where do your buyers get stuck before they buy? Five stuck points, one gift for each, and visitors pick theirs on your homepage.
What I do now.
These rules now shape every free gift my studio makes, and the ones in the AI marketing team I run for online brands.
One more number from the data. On my main site, 1 in 6 people who saw a gift signed up. Across all visitors it was only 1 in 20, because most visitors never saw a gift at all. So the gift now goes on every page, right where its question comes up.
